Mariann Saether
Well…if you haven’t heard the name you are obviously missing out on a big
portion of the kayaking world. That is the whitewater realm of female
paddlers doing exactly what the boys do! Since meeting Mariann on the Rio
Futaleufu in 1999, she has become one of the most recognized paddlers in the
world. She is one of a select few paddlers traveling the globe and charging
everything from multi-day expeditions to big water, waterfalls to big wave
surfing, running paddling vacation companies and of course teaching women’s
clinics.
Over the past three seasons she has challenged some of the most renowned
whitewater in Chile, Canada, Iceland, Tibet, Europe, and of course her home
country of Norway. With a strong desire for adventure, Mariann has enticed
me to try and keep up while continually pushing her own ability and
technique to remain the best overall female paddler in the world.
