One of the finest products of the Alabama whitewater machine, Katie Hilleke is an inspiration in the kayaking world and beyond. She's been a Green River regular for years, and her mad skills, big heart, and signature laugh make her an ideal companion for both running the gnar and hanging out in the eddy. Her impressive list of kayaking accomplishments includes everything from South American expeditions to descents of some of the toughest beasts in the Southeast, like the Raven Fork. After defying the odds and beating colon cancer in 2007, she headed West for a summer of river running and fundraising in the name of cancer research and awareness, culminating in a trip to the Middle Kings. Seņorita Hilleke is busy these days working on a masters degree in teaching English as a second language, but in her free time she still manages to play Willie Nelson songs on her guitar, paint pictures, and run with her dog Sadie.
