If some one were to ask me who was the single most motivated kayaker on the planet, i would undoubtedly respond saying my younger brother, Evan. Growing up in Bozeman, MT our father had us involved in some form of river ratness ever since birth. Evan was a very capable kayaker for years, but it was a sport that he nearly hated for years. It all changed when he turned 14, and decided that he was going to kayak the entire Grand Canyon. After that he was obsessed and couldn't stop thinking about kayaking. His sophomore year of high school he began attending World Class Kayak Academy, and at that time his skills practically exploded. Before long he was flying down 800 foot per mile sections of Big Timber creek, and hucking crazy blunt-mcnasty that still baffle me. Last May he claimed his spot as Jr. World Champ, and then took off to California for three months refusing to playboat, and running the steepest hardest whitewater in North America. One of my best memories paddling with Evan came last December, in Argentina while both of us sat in our boats at the lip of an 80 foot falls. Having showed him down numerous runs, and miles of class 5 it was an awesome opportunity to follow my younger brother, favorite paddling partner, and most psyched kayaker on the planet, over the falls.
