The 11th annual Iceman Championships and Millrace Massacre was held on January 8th.  Over fifty racers enjoyed balmy 30˚ temperatures for the day’s events on Columbia SC’s Saluda River.  You never know what you’ll get at the Iceman.  Last year the temperature didn’t exceed 25 degrees, and some years it soars into the fifties.  Regardless, you always need a drysuit because the Saluda River water is rather cold.  And, you can guarantee the Saluda Boyz will always put on a fantastic event and show you their kindness and hospitality.  Good people, those Saluda Boyz.

(Happiness finds its way into most every paddling trip, even on shuttle sometimes.)
